Another Lisa Stone book! Who would have thought?
Lisa's books do often follow a real premise that is taken to the extreme. Kidnapping through a legal system, a man being the only sperm donor leading to severely inbred children, and finally cellular memory. I have not head of this theory before, but I don't have to be a doctor to tell you that it is certainly not as extreme as the book makes it.
We are given background on Shane and how violent and extreme he is, but not any background on Jacob. I know it's not hard to imagine how nice he is before hand, and Lisa was probably wondering if it would be boring reading how great this boy is, but I think it would have helped. Even if it was only a small chapter or something of the sort. The parents were laid back in the beginning, which is understandable, but this does not change as the book goes on, which surprised me. It annoyed me nobody took the old woman seriously and that the mother was a typical boy mother "Oh, my sweet angel can't do any wrong!". Give it a rest. The Rev (this really made me laugh) was just useless.
The end was alright, more of the mother gushing over her son telling him not to worry, and not explaining anything that he did or what happened.
3/5
