My Waffling

I found this book by googling 'books like The Ferryman'. I can see why it would be connected, but I have to disagree. This book was not that good at all. Was not as bad as Inevitable, but I don't think anything can be. I think the only way it can be related to The Ferryman is from the plot twist, and the fact that it is set at the end of the world from a man made event, similar to Climate Change.

To be fair, I don't think that there was anything wrong with this book. I just don't think it was for me. I kept waiting for something to capture my attention and immerse me, but it didn't really happen. Looking on Goodreads, it seems a lot of people really enjoyed it, so I must have an unpopular opinion. I would say that a main gripe of mine that there were quite a lot of characters. As it was a short book with 60 odd characters, it was difficult to really get to know them and see what the dynamics were. Obviously not all 60 were explored, and I read have GOT, so I can't complain that much.

I struggled to comprehend the book ending. This might be because it took me a while to read it and I finished it while tired, so wasn't thinking properly. I was so excited to read this, as it is a thriller, and supposed to be like The Ferryman. Maybe my hopes were so high that when presented with an average book it seemed subpar due to my expectations. Nothing too special happened. But I would highly recommend you giving it a go and see if you disagree with me.

3/5
