The Price of Confession
Tiny Overview
Tiny Analysation
In the 12 hours over six days it took me to watch this, I was completely in the palm of this show. I fell for every trick and every plot twist that happened. Completely strange and unpredictable ending. If I'm completely honest, I wasn't even sure that An Yoon-Su did not kill Lee Ki-Dae until around episode 4. It was amazing how they kept replaying the murder scene shot by shot to relay different perspectives , and with different characters. I loved it!
It was never clearly stated what the dentist couple did to 'deserve' their death. I had to google it. It turns out that they paid people to let their son get off lightly.
Lee Ki-Dae's death reason felt lack luster. All because he wouldn't apologise and he just asked the lawyer and his wife to leave him alone. It seemed like they did it on the fly, and didn't really have an idea from the beginning. The killer ebing introduced in the last couple episodes was strange - it would have been better if hints were dropped throughout the show. Maybe they were, and I was too slow to pick them up myself.
I hope there is not another season. It ended nicely, and I'm not sure what they would do other than show the wife on trial, etc. I did think that the cop woman would have a bigger role, but all she did was minorly support Baek Dong-Hun outside of the first two episodes.
My Waffling
It took me a little while to get into it, maybe three episodes or so, but as soon as I was engrossed I really was. I screamed when I saw Park Hae-Soo!! I am very proud of myself when I recognise actors from other shows. I did not appreciate how they kept touching things in the crime scenes without gloves and before taking photos. I know it's not important to the plot but it is important to me...
My main annoyance was that An seemed to be the only woman in the world with wavy hair. She never changed it, only ever wore a hat!! She was the only woman in the show with wavy hair. I know it was probably on purpose for the water to be able to see where she is in crowds, etc, but it made it very frustrating that she never cut it, straightened it, or tied it up like they normally do in shows in a big dramatic montage.
I think my favourite character was An's lawyer. He tried really hard and was always trying to do his best. I'm glad that in the end he was helping Baek Dong-Hun, and there was no 'I'm not going to help you because I don't like you' arc. It really showed that he just wanted a rightful end.
An going to Thailand with Sop to give back the watch was nice - I really liked that. It's a bit unclear on how she is there unless it was after her prison sentence, but would she even be able to travel out of the country after that so soon? After this, they returned to the dead husband footage and showed Mo-Eun (actually Kang So-Hae) being there at the wedding. I immediately then went onto the first episode and this never happened? Is it supposed to be a metaphor of the after life?? Similar thing happened when they showed the dramatic footage of the killer leaving the art studio. In the flashback, you can see the actors fringe over her eyes and it casts a shadow. When I skipped back, that didn't happen - you couldn't see any hair at all.
Some facts about the show
Over 200 extras were hired for the Thailand shoots
